2025 Recap

Dearest Gentle Reader, Season’s greetings 🤍 If I’m being honest, I didn’t keep all the promises I made to myself and to you guys in January 2025🥺. And for a long time, that bothered me a whole lot. But looking back now, I understand why. Last year needed me to pause, to learn, to unlearn, and to grow, and I’m grateful for every part of it. One of the biggest lessons came from choosing a career path. As a Microbiology graduate who genuinely enjoyed every aspect of the course (weirdly so), deciding what direction to take wasn’t easy. I felt pulled in many directions, unsure of where I truly belonged. Eventually, I ran back to God for clarity and slowly, things began to align. That clarity led me to academic writing. It was something I had always been interested in but never quite knew how to begin. When I finally took the leap, it was challenging, exciting, and deeply fulfilling. Ohh can I get my monthly allowances back.” If you’re fresh out of NYSC, you’re probably swimming in “What’s next?” moments and trying to keep it all together and you’re probably getting a thousand and one “What next” question from friends and family. The truth? Life after NYSC is no walk in the park, but it’s where the real journey begins. Here’s the lowdown on how to navigate this transition like a boss and keep your sanity (and your faith) intact.

1. Expectations vs. Reality: Where’s All the Hype? 🌍💸

You know that feeling—thinking, “My dad’s got some connections. We got this! ” plus the numerous “After NYSC send me your CV. I gat you” Only to realize… they don’t got this. It’s that classic “Wait, what?” moment when the “big connections” your parents hinted at turn out to be, well, less big than you imagined. Meanwhile, you’re scrolling through Instagram, watching friends start businesses, land cool jobs, and secure the bag. And there you are, refreshing your email, waiting on replies from job applications, constantly receiving rejection emails or no replies at all. It’s giving premium disappointment.

But listen: everyone’s timeline is different. 🌱✨ Your big break? It’s coming, even if it’s taking a deliberately slow route. The reality is, the transition isn’t smooth for most people. There are rejections, ghosted applications, and days of feeling “left behind.” Don’t sweat it—your season is unfolding at its own pace.

Here’s the truth bomb: this “waiting” phase? Pray, journal, vent and rant a little if you need to—but don’t zone out. Waiting isn’t passive. It’s your prep time for greatness.

Use this season to grow. Don’t worry about others’ timelines—use this “waiting” phase to reflect on your goals, dream bigger, and get ready for what’s coming. It’s all part of the process, and you’re about to come out stronger than ever.

3. Skill Up, Glow Up 💼🚀

Let’s face it—after NYSC, you don’t want to come out the same way you entered. It’s time to hit the self-improvement streets! Whether it’s digital marketing, project management, or even virtual assistance, invest in yourself. Sites like ALX, Coursera, Google, and LinkedIn Learning are literally goldmines for affordable skills. And when that opportunity shows up, you’ll be ready to say, “I got the skills and the receipts.” 📈✨

Taking courses isn’t just about padding your resume—it’s about building your career superpowers. You’re investing in you, and there’s no better time than now. Skill up, because your glow-up is in progress.

4. Make Real Connections, Not Just “My Dad Knows Someone” Hype 👥🤝

Blogversary: 12 Months of Writing, Growing, and Connecting

On  12th August 2024 , I hit the publish button for the very first time.
