If you’ve ever met my dad, you’ll understand why “strong” doesn’t quite cut it.
Man is literally built different. πͺπΎ
He’s a man living with a disability, but funny thing is — you’d never notice. Not because he hides it, but because he moves like someone who refuses to be boxed by it. π¦❌
Growing up, I never saw a “disabled man.” I just saw my daddy — showing up, providing, fixing things, being everyone's go-to human. Able in every way that mattered. π―
He doesn’t like tears. Especially not from his girls. π’
Just hint at crying, and he’s ready to buy the moon and add small change on top. ππ️
Sometimes we used it to our advantage (please don’t judge us ππ).
Also — and I say this with my full chest — my daddy cannot stand to see my hair undone. π©π§΅
You’d think it physically pained him.
The man will literally chase me out of the house to go get my hair braided. πͺππΎ♀️
“No child of mine should be walking around like this,” he’ll say, like I committed a federal crime. π¨π
And that’s love, isn’t it? π
He’s the kind of dad who will turn the whole world upside down just to make sure you’re getting the best education. ππ
And when it comes to math? That’s his territory. A full-on maths guru. ➗ππ§
He’s my personal math teacher — and trust me, nobody teaches me like he does (and yes, I’m including all the people that wore suits and taught with whiteboards π).
We fight. Oh, we fight. π€Ίπ
Especially during the holidays when we’re both in the same house and our personalities are bouncing off each other like ping pong balls. ππ
But the moment school resumes? I start missing him like clockwork. π₯Ήπ
And when he visits? He gives me that hug that messes up my hair, calls me “my girl,” and grins like he hasn’t been thinking about me all week. π€ππΎ♀️❤️
He’s smart. He’s funny in his own dry way. He’s incredibly soft underneath all that “I’m a man” exterior. π§ π§πΎ♂️π
He’s my safe space.
This is just a small love note to say:
Daddy, thank you. ππΎπ
For never letting us feel lack.
For making strength look gentle.
For teaching me math and teaching me life.
For being the first man I loved — and the standard I still look to. π₯Ίπ
Happy Father’s Day, Daddy.
I love you more than words. But these ones will do, for now. π❤️

ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful, I'm not the Dad, I'm the Dad's daughter's friend but it's got me all so mushy inside.
God bless you sir. As someone who's met her Dad I'd say this is just ¼ of what he is. Thank you sir for all you do.
